SME Pact
SME Pact with large enterprises
One of the critical factors of a region's competitiveness is the development capacity of its small and medium innovative companies. SME growth depends largely on having access to markets, starting with their relationships with big companies and the public sector.
Since 2005, there is a mechanism in France which has shown significant results in terms of new contracts for SME with big enterprises: the SME Pact. As of today, this mechanism comprises 1200 SME and 30 big enterprises (10 from the public sector and 20 from the private sector).
This programme aims to support the development of innovative SMEs and the competitiveness of big enterprises, with concrete, measurable commitments regarding the elimination of the barriers that usually prevent or restrain such interactions.
Main approach (core ideas):
- Analysing the SME Pact experience;
- Evaluating this mechanism's applicability in other regions.
Target audience:
- Policy-makers dealing with SME growth and promotion;
- Regional governments;
- Industrial associations.
